Who would have thought that the spectacular but humble Ornamental Grape had such exotic beginnings! This is one of the lovely things about gardens and the plants we like to cultivate in them - they can come from all over the world and here they are flourishing away at the bottom of the world, in the opposite season to where they came from - happy as Larry!

Hello dear Robyn, I always read your blog with pleasure but this the 1st time I've accumulated the courage to attempt a response. Some of us are still tentative with the technology. The bare bones of winter call for resilience and good humour. Thank you for giving us that. Just now my garden is a swamp. Only the piwakawaka's persistent presence keeps me engaged these dank days. I'm looking forward to a good hard frost to clear the air and clean the slate. Keep writing to inspire us Robin - keep strong

I hear exactly what you are saying about the technology Peggy and the terrible thing is - it seems to get harder instead of easier!

Walking in the mist, and your other photo too show off the beauty of the fading autumn. Thank you Robyn

Your Redwood sounds like the guardian of your garden - constant - Ann! I hope all is well with you. We will be in touch soon about B.P. Heritage Rose Garden pruning - if you still feel up to it! Couldn't think of anything worse on a day like this? But will be good to catch up though!

Lovely blog as usual Robyn. Who’s that small figure heading into the misty gloom on that Victoria Park track that we love. A special place on a Saturday morning. Inspite of rain and mud spring seems to be springing so early this year but how lucky we are to have changing seasons to enjoy.
